About the University

The Georgian Technical University, formerly known as the Georgian Institute of Applied Arts, is the largest technical university in Georgia, located in the capital city, Tbilisi.

Founded in 1922 as the College of Applied Arts at Tbilisi State University, the first lecture was delivered by the Georgian mathematician Professor Andrea Razmadze.

It became an independent “Georgian Polytechnic Institute” in 1928 and attained university status by 1990.
